The true cost of Jenkinson?
C&H

Arsenal get big fee when Jenks plays

First things first- we can't send Carl Jenkinson back to Arsenal.. It's a season long loan with no recall clause and it's costing us a fortune.

ClaretandHugh has learned this morning that on top of the £40k a week wages, and £1.5 million loan fee, Arsenal are receiving payments of £30k for every game he plays.

And the very simple truth is that's too much and as a source told us a few minutes ago: "He won't be returning next season - we need to nail that position down."

To say that Jenks has been a disappointment is a bit like saying: Dimitri Payet is a good player!

But on the basis that there are many blessings in disguise in this world we now have seen a multi-defensive player develop in James Tomkins.

Like every other player at this exciting club of ours, JT has battled brilliantly to grab his chance - Jenks will need to show the same sort of character if he's to come in from the Boleyn wilderness.

''If Wenger values Jenkinson at £15m, what must Byram be worth?''

Fucking hell, calm down. Are we rating him at 25 mil already , the same as Cresswell, lol?

Everton bid 3.75m for Byram, we signed him for substantially less it seems.

Was any part of your post supposed to be a reason as to why he might regret signing a multi million pound long term contract with the title challengers he grew up supporting?

Re: The true cost of Jenkinson?
Second season loan fee was an abysmal footballing decision.

What was it, 2 million? And we ended up giving Leeds nearly 4 million anyway? Couldn't we have given them the Nelsons right at the start?

Re: The true cost of Jenkinson?

You say "Why would he regret that?"

Well, there are thousands of young lads out there who would run through walls to play football and be part of a big club. Doesn't matter who they originally grew up supporting. The list of "switchers" to rivals is endless, and some became legends. Robbie Fowler, Wayne Rooney...

Jenkinson (and Moses) are clearly not highly rated by their parent clubs. The clubs are cunts for not letting them go at a reasonable price: instead, holding on to them as unused assets. Wenger's valuation of Jenkinson is ridiculous, given that he doesn't want him.

And the players themselves need to decide: what's more important? Just MORE money when they're already loaded, or playing, being hailed, and having a future in a team. I assume they like playing football and feeling they have a "home"?

Of course, players come and go. But the loan system sucks. Just IMO.

Re: The true cost of Jenkinson?
Theyve given him a decent contract (60k a week i think?). Personally I dont see anyone coming in for him unless on a free given they have to cover those wages.

Re: The true cost of Jenkinson?
Jenkinson needs to have a bit of a think about where he wants his career to go after this season.
Getting to an age where he needs to be playing somewhere permanently and has gone backwards this season.
Of course Arsenal were happy for us to develop their player who they could either take back if he developed or sell and he obviously thought he could become their right back eventually.
While he has been away Bellerin has eaten his lunch and his Arsenal career his over.
He needs to accept that and Wenger needs to accept he is worth about £3m.

Geoffpikey,

Actually you're probably right on Moses too. He came through the academy at Palace so I suspect he counts as home grown as well.

Over all has done pretty good for us especially last season... he is in a shit couple of months of form just like all players go through... hopefully he'll pull through the other side as I still think there is aplayer there... whether it is with us remains to be seen

I wonder if he regrets accepting that new long term contract with the Arse. He must know he will never be their No.1 RB.

He will never make the grade at Arsenal. Can see him end up in Norwich, villa or another bottom team
